Iona is holy island off Scotland´s coast, place of the ancient monastic community of Irish hermits, founded by Saint Columba of Iona, who sailed there from Ireland in 563. He was accompanied by Saint Otteran of Iona who died soon after arrival. Columba´s cousin Saint Adomnan was the 9-th abbot of Iona and wrote 'Vita Columbae' (Life of Columba). Adomnan had a vision of heaven and hell, which you can read here:
